Project in Puerto Aventuras

The Solidarity System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF), presided over by Mrs Gabriela Rejón de Joaquín, received a donation of 20 thousand Euros from the Fuerte Foundation, an organisation that is dedicated to promoting the sustainable development of people (children, teenagers and families) who are in situations of risk or who lack material possessions and/or culture, in Spain or in any other country that is approved by the trust. This mission is carried out through providing assistance or creating projects that improve overall living conditions, education, housing and/or human development.

The sum of money will be used to equip the crèche and play centre that will operate in this community of Puerto Aventuras.

The donation was received in the presence of the President of the D.I.F. Solidaridad trust, who in turn received the donation in person from Mrs Isabel Luque, daughter of Mrs Isabel García Bardón, president of the Fuerte Foundation.

In an emotional speech, Isabel Luque stated that, "we want to return part of what is given to us every day by society. In doing this, we want to set an example so that other business groups also set aside part of their profits for this type of social work". She went on to say that the Fuerte Foundation had begun to collaborate with the D.I.F through the "proyecto hombre" (the human project), a pioneer programme in the fight against drug addiction, by training the psychologist Arizbeth Ayala, the D.I.F's Director of Vulnerable Groups, to carry out this Solidarity project.

Gabriela Rejón de Joaquín expressed her appreciation for the Fuerte Foundation's support, which added to the efforts that are being made by the Municipal DIF to raise the quality of life in communities that have not felt the benefits of the Mayan Riviera’s extraordinary process. She also acknowledged the outstanding work done by Mrs Isabel García Bardón, the sensitive and humanitarian lady manager who never tires of giving benefits to the community of Puerto Aventuras.

She also said that, “by following the example of the accountant Carlos Joaquín González, the Municipal System's Trust for the Integral Development of the Family and this institution, we will continue working right up to the last day of this Municipal Administration, and I am certain that the work that we do will be given the continuity that all of the beneficiaries deserve.”

This sum of money will benefit the boys and girlswho will use this crèche and childminding service. They will have access to the best equipment and material which, together with the professionalism of the people in charge of their first experience of education and socialising, will lead to their personalities forming in a better way.
