Life, Death, Life Project

As part of our responsibility for “creating things”, at EntreRaizes we build ecological furniture out of maguey wood (the flowering part of the agave plant).

Agave is an American plant species, the use of which can be traced back to pre-Columbian times.

It is the plant that is most used and valued by indigenous populations. Its name means “admirable” in Greek.

When this plant is in flower it produces a trunk that can grow up to 15 metres high. The seed pods are found at the top of this trunk.
The plant reproduces when it comes to the end of its life cycle, a process that takes almost 30 years.

When it dies, it leaves its wood behind. We carefully collect this wood so that it can be reused for making sustainable and ecological furniture.

Since 1999, EntreRaizes has been designing and producing ecological furniture by reusing nature’s waste materials, along with other waste produced by the raging consumerism of this “modern society” in which we are all immersed.
