Río Gallegos Project in Argentina

Miguel Echamendi Aristu, the person in charge of the project in Argentina, expressed his thanks to the President of the Fuerte Foundation, Mrs Isabel María García Bardón with these words:

Dear friends from the “Fuerte Foundation”

In Río Gallegos we are indebted to the Foundation.

Some months have passed since 9 November 2006 when I wrote to tell you that we were constructing a kitchen and dining room to feed people in need who come to our parish on a daily basis, and that we needed to equip it with a refrigerator, a freezer, cooker and a preparation table with a sink and cupboards.

The Foundation came to our aid and in September 2007 our bishop blessed the kitchen and dining room. Mission accomplished with great joy.

When I came to Marbella on the 18th of January 2008, I was warmly received by you and you agreed to help me once more with a hall for young people, which is now also a reality.

From Rió Gallegos, I would like to express the thanks of our Christian community.

A lot of people benefit from the services provided by the kitchen (we feed 60 families every month). New migrants arrive in our city every day.

Over the last year, poverty in Río Gallegos has increased by 1.3% instead of decreasing. We intend to carry on providing these services with the help of the Lord, who will always send as much as necessary to help people in need.
