The first Horizonte-Proyecto Hombre Charity Tournament was held at the Los Flamingos golf club in Marbella (Málaga) last Saturday the 19th of September. The funds raised at this event will be used to finance projects that are run in Marbella and the surrounding region to help more than 300 young people with drug addiction problems.

This tournament was organised by the Fuerte Foundation to raise funds for the Horizonte Association. It was sponsored by organisations like Marbella's Local Government, Fuerte Hoteles and the club itself, Los Flamingos Golf, along with many other contributors who have supported this charity activity.
The trophy and prize giving ceremony was presided over by Isabel García Bardón, president of the El Fuerte Group, Manuel Cardeña, Marbella's Local Government councillor for Social Welfare, and by Fany Palanco, vice president of the Horizonte Association.
The Marbella based Horizonte Association, Proyecto-Hombre helps around 300 young people every year. Its projects are not only aimed at taking action against drug addiction, but also at preventing consumption. Some of the activities carried out by the organisation are programmes to provide therapy, education, advice to families and training for voluntary personnel. In addition, the association also manages a supervised 24 hour shelter for drug addicts who are undergoing treatment.
The tournament was played as an individual Stableford points competition and included two categories for men and one for women.
