About the Horizonte Association
The Association, which provides assistance to an average of 300 young people per year, runs several projects, such as an educational therapy programme that helps people with drug addition problems, as well as the Proyecto Hombre prevention programmes “A Tiempo” (On Time) and “Entre Todos” (With Everyone). Other programmes are run at the Las Albarizas, La Patera and El Ángel social integration centres in Marbella. In addition, the Association operates a 24 hour supervised refuge for drug addicts who are undergoing treatment, provides advice to families and trains voluntary personnel.
The Horizonte Association was conceived in 1982 by a group of catholic couples determined to help young people on the margins of society. During their first years, activities revolved around giving drug prevention talks in schools in Marbella. In 1984-1985 they joined forces with the diocese of Malaga and the Order of Franciscan Tertiaries to found the Spanish Solidarity Centre in Malaga, whose Trust supervises the Proyecto Hombre in the city of Malaga and surrounding areas.
