The permanent decoration inside the new Fuerte Estepona Suites SPA hotel will include some works of art with the added value of an environmentally friendly philosophy. On the 10 and 11 of July, the hotel will invite a group of children and young people to help create several works of art to decorate the hotel’s public rooms. This will serve the double purpose of raising their awareness and involving them in the fight against the decline of the environment.

Pitch, a waste product from oil production, will be the original component used in these paintings. Instead of being dumped into the sea, it is dissolved in solvents, which turn this ugly material into a very interesting artistic element.
In addition, the work carried out with this group of children and young people is aimed at raising their awareness of the struggle that is necessary to protect our environment.
This initiative has been developed by Fuerte Hoteles with sponsorship from We Equip, a furnishing and decoration company, and from the Fuerte Foundation. It has been organised by Isabel Luque, the manager of the Fuerte Foundation’s cultural department in conjunction with Jimmy Pons and the well known art teacher and painter Eli Martin.
Pons has been developing the technique of applying oil derivatives to art for 20 years, as part of his search for new textures in painting. Petrolart is the term that he has coined for this initiative, based on the use of art to encourage the responsible use of the environment and natural resources.

Fuerte Hoteles is the driving force behind this project aimed at making us think about the environmental legacy that we will leave behind for future generations. The art created at the new Fuerte Estepona Suites by the children and young people will become part of the hotel’s permanent decoration.
Ever since the year of its foundation in 1957, the family-run company Fuerte Hoteles, with its headquarters in Marbella, has run a responsible hotel business. They are always concerned about providing satisfaction to their clients and employees and keeping their facilities in a good state of repair, as well as promoting innovation, culture and local cuisine. They also strive to give a boost to local economies, reduce their impact on the environment and, of course, they help to develop the most disadvantaged local communities through the Fuerte Foundation.
